PORT CHARLOTTE - An exclusive daycare opened in Port Charlotte, and you have to pass a three-part interview process to get in. And, oh yeah... You have to be a dog!

"This is like "Doggy Disneyland!" said owner Richard Witherill. "Everything here is designed for my four-legged client, and the two-legged people, they just bring them in."

Paws Dog Daycare offers a daycare service, so when you're at work or away on vacation, your dog can play and socialize and make new friends. Dogs, like Lisa Ahren's, Ladybug. Ladybug had problems getting along with other dogs, that was until she brought her to Paws.

"I'm always like, you guys are miracle workers, they're amazing," said Ahrens.

In addition to daycare, Paws offers overnight stays in luxury pet suites, training and behavior, as well as grooming services, like "pawdicures."

"If I can go to a spa, so can they," said a client Carmen Connors.

Places like Paws are becoming a popular business, but it's one Charlotte County didn't have until now.

"We're getting great restaurants here, we're really getting a nightlife, it's about time our animals had star treatment," said Connors.

Is it extravagant? Sure. But, dog owners say: it's 100% worth it.

"People really want the best for their dogs," said Witherill.

"For me, my animals are my children, they're part of my family, they're not a pet. They are my family," said Connors.

And after a full day of playing, chasing a ball, playing tug of war, and catching bubbles, it's nap time. Witherill dims the light and puts on a little smooth jazz to soothe his four-legged friends. It's best to let sleeping dogs lie.
