Star gazer lilies

Thought this may be of interest...
A week ago our friends stayed and bought us a bunch of roses/star gazer lilies as a present. This Sunday morning I decided to trim the stems and put them in fresh water. The lillies were fully open at this stage.
My partner and I then went out and returned approx 5 hours later. About an hour later on a walk our spaniel started acting strange lifting her front paws high off the ground in walk. She then became wobbly. She was carried back to the house after collapsing. Once home she began vomiting. As my partner is a vet he gave her a check over and everything pointed to poisoning, almost like antifreeze poisoning although we knew she had no access to this. We put her on a drip for 24 hours. She is almost back to normal 2 days on.
Our spaniel had been lying underneath where I had been trimming the flowers. We are almost certain that the lilies were the cause??

re: Star gazer lilies

Excellent comment, I found little in the way of this plants effect on dogs in the literature that I used for research. I am glad to have a confirmed or at the very least a semi-confirmed case of this plant negatively affecting a dog.
